Ashton Farm dates back to the late 1700’s and is located near by Califon on what was the original road from Chester to Clinton. An old milestone sits in repose outside the front door.
The farm buildings are reached by driving up a 200-yard long driveway and passing under a tunnel of overhanging old pine trees. The top of the driveway is illuminated by a pair of old Victorian lamp posts imported from Wimbledon, England.

Relaxing Panorama in all directions
Overlooking the valley with white fenced pastures you can see the horses grazing or practicing their skills in the riding ring. Nearby is an original 19th century bank barn, renovated to accommodate horses and ponies.
Abundant wildlife – you can see deer startlingly close. Birds abound – blue jays, hummingbirds, swifts… taking their turn at the bird feeders.
White tailed deer trot through the fields and you may catch sight of the flock of wild turkeys that reside up the hill.
Practice your cast!
Stroll to the fish pond stocked with trout… If fishing’s your passion you can practice your cast. Watch bright blue dragonflies dart about to gobble up small insects. Or perhaps you’ll spot a tall, blue heron trying to steal a fishy meal.
On summer evenings the fields and trees come alight with fireflies, flying so slowly you can easily catch them with your hands.
